Cultura Impact Lab has been awarded the Ecodynamic Enterprise Label (Label Entreprise Ecodynamique) with two stars by Brussels Environment. The certificate was handed by the Secretary of State of the Brussels-Capital Region, Ans Persoons, who opened the 2026 award ceremony held on 16 June 2026 at Atelier 210 in Brussels.
For us, the meaning of this recognition is straightforward. Sustainability is a management discipline. If we advise organisations on ESG, sustainable project design and responsible governance, our own operations should stand up to the same scrutiny.
The ceremony opened with an address by the Secretary of State, followed by a presentation from Brussels Environment on the label as a practical instrument serving the transition of Brussels organisations. Certificates were then presented individually by the Secretary of State.
The involvement of the regional government signals how far environmental management has moved up the political agenda in Brussels, with institutional backing at the highest level. For a Brussels-based practice working daily at the interface between organisations and public institutions, receiving this recognition directly from a member of the regional government carries real weight.
What Is the Ecodynamic Enterprise abel?
The Ecodynamic Enterprise Label is the official environmental management certification of the Brussels-Capital Region, run by Brussels Environment. It is open to any organisation with an activity site in the Region — private or public, commercial or non-profit, from micro-enterprises to multinationals and public administrations.
The community of labelled organisations gives a good sense of its reach. It includes think tanks and international institutions such as the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) and the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI); foundations such as the King Baudouin Foundation; cultural venues such as Flagey, Ancienne Belgique; hospitals such as the Cliniques Saint-Luc; NGOs such as Oxfam Solidarité; sports organisations such as the Royale Union Saint-Gilloise; and companies such as Dior. Joining a group of this calibre is a source of pride for us.
Three features make it distinctive:
- It assesses how an organisation operates. The evaluation covers energy, waste, mobility, procurement, staff engagement and governance — the daily reality of running an organisation.
- It is awarded site by site. Certification applies to a specific place of activity, which keeps the assessment concrete and verifiable.
- It is tiered. One, two or three stars reflect the depth and maturity of the environmental management system in place, with periodic renewal.
Since 2018, close to 200 sites across Brussels have obtained the label. The 2025-2026 edition marked a record: 107 certified activity sites honoured, a 65% increase on the previous year — a clear signal that environmental management has moved to the centre of how Brussels organisations are run.
Why This Matters for Us
Sustainability runs through the way we work: in strategy and organisational design, in the projects we build and manage, in the policy conversations we support, and in the ventures we launch. Our spin-off Greenflix, the European hub for sustainable film production, grew out of that same conviction applied to an entire sector.
The label is the result of deliberate choices made over time — including our move to Mundo Matonge, the eco-designed workspace in the heart of Brussels that hosts more than 60 organisations across the social, environmental and cultural economy. Being surrounded by organisations with serious, concrete commitments keeps the bar high.
What the Assessment Process Taught Us
Going through certification is instructive. The process asks an organisation to look at its own consumption, procurement, waste streams and mobility patterns with a level of precision that day-to-day operations rarely demand. It surfaces what you are already doing well without having formalised it, and it surfaces the gaps.
That experience transfers directly to our clients. When we sit down with an institution, a producer, a festival or an association considering an environmental management system, we know where the friction is, which evidence is hard to assemble, and how to structure the work so it strengthens the organisation.
An Additional Note
For Brussels-based organisations, certification carries a concrete advantage beyond recognition: labelled companies are formally acknowledged as “exemplary” by the Region.
What Comes Next
The label operates on a logic of continuous improvement, and we intend to treat it that way — with a clear internal roadmap towards deepening our environmental management and, in time, moving further up the scale.
